Most of you must be aware of the fair trade coffee and tea and must have sipped that delicious coffee at some point or the other. There is a chance that you may have not even realised that is a fair trade product that you have just consumed. But there are not many who would be aware of what is fair trade jewellery.

You as a consumer of a wealthy country always face the challenge in terms of choices. There is so much to choose from that you are confused as to where to go and what to wear and eat. The fair trade is an endeavour by the world trade fair organisation which provides the consumers with the choice to purchase the fair trade products. When you as consumer buy this product like the fair trade gifts and the recycled gifts it in turn helps the producer of the product who is often downtrodden poor people and thus helps to eradicate poverty and also look after the environment.
The same concept is applicable for the jewellery and thus is called the fair trade jewellery. When buying the jewellery you really need to think at least once if the jewellery that you buy do you want it to be so cheap that the individual who made it should starve because of it. Thus when you buy this which is also called the ethically produced jewellery then you as a purchaser can be guaranteed that the benefit of this purchase will be used for the maker and hi community and also his environment.
However, before you buy this ethically produced jewellery or any handmade gifts or the African gifts for that matter then you need to be sure that it is indeed ethically made and genuinely fair.
These ethically made gifts and jewellery's are always certified by the standard organisations and the certification bodies. One such certification body is the World Fair Trade Organisation. In countries like UK the certification organisation is the BAFTS or the British Association for Fair Trade Shops. You can also shop for these products online but you will also need to be sure what credential these online providers hold and if you find any doubt then you can directly ask the owners for more clarity on it.
One of the best and easiest ways to find out about the company's credentials is by looking at the information about the product on their website. A fair trade company with good credentials will always provide its customer with complete information about the ethical jewellery or any other product that they sell and also about the producers who make these products. One of the most important aspects of the fair trade market is that it is committed towards getting involved in commercial relations that is transparent and also believes in fair dealings with its partners in trading.
